Hey, nice to meet you!
My name is Saxon Smith. I am a wife and a busybody. I enjoy creating and preserving beautiful things. I love memories, preserving memories, and creating beautiful memories. This is why I enjoy photography – it is a mixture of technical skill, art and composition, and memories of our lives the way they are.
As my family’s historical photo archiver, I have seen the importance of family photography over the years. By scanning and identifying persons, places, and times in my family’s extensive photo history, I have met and in a sense know my relatives generations before me – all because they took photos. I have seen my grandfather’s neighborhood looks just the same now as it did in the 1930s when his grandparents lived there. Family photography is important to document our lives as we grow and change – for ourselves and those who come after us.
I’ve always had an interest in photography, so a few years ago my lovely husband bought me a DSLR for Christmas. It has since become something I am passionate about and practice nearly every day. I started off mostly doing landscapes, but there is something about family portrait photography that brings more satisfaction and meaning to me. It is fun knowing I get to help someone capture both who they are in a unique way and also document an important time in their lives.
